Viajar a España
In 2010 Sra. DeMorris and Sra. Orellana escorted 18 North Salem Spanish students to Spain. We spent three days exploring Madrid - we visited the Prado Museum where we got to see Valezquez's "Las Meninas" upclose and personal (Sra. DeMorris cried!). We also visited the Palacio Real de Madrid, the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. Did you know that Spanish marble is the hardest marble in the world?
On Sunday we traveled to Granada, where students spent a week living with Spanish families and going to school. In the afternoons we toured Granada and other local cities. Students experienced the processions of Semana Santa, explored the gypsy quarter, learned about the Moorish influence on southern Spain's architecture, and saw a live flamenco show. And we will never forget the incredible paella dinner!
